Sainsbury: Making a lot out of nothing advert
I know it is typical of me to yet again hate on another Christmas advert, but this year surprisingly I have actually found an ad I like. (I know, SHOCK HORROR)!
Over the last 5 years the supermarket has ensured it dominates the festive season by its big-budget ad. However this year appears to be very different from the previous manipulative and money orientated adverts.
This year’s Sainsbury’s advert depicts an ‘unconventional Christmas’. I love how the ad focuses more on a younger audience with its use of young stars Celia Beckford and Conor Elliot. Anyone can connect with this sweet and sentimental advert due to the nostalgic and heart-warming themes. It feat
ures all your essential needs for a Christmas ad from your cuddly toys to your random guy dressed up as Santa Claus. And let’s be real who doesn't love a cover of the ultimate tune ‘Last Christmas’ from the one and only Tom Jones. Overall I cannot fault 2015’s flawless Christmas ad.
An advert to go down in history? I believe so.
